Specialty zips for tailored trousers

Since YKK stopped producing their high quality trouser zips I have been looking out for another equally or higher quality zip to use in bespoke tailored trousers.

Without getting deeply into story; I have a zip that may even be better than the original. My Zip has an ornate stay-down puller which is important for trousers to keep it out of the way for the maker and the wearer when it is not required. The slider and teeth have a very smooth pull-apart motion better than a lot of rival zips. The tape isn’t too stiff making it good to use with lighter cloth as well as heavier suiting. It is reliably available in multiple useful colours unlike other luxury options and the range will expand down the line. I also keep the thread match in Tre cerchi cops. Zips in handmade trousers are typically cut to size to suit the specific rise, so they are available in 9″ (22.5 cm) for the full range of colours and 12″ (30 cm) in black, grey and navy for very high rise trousers which will also have colours added.

I also stock a shade card that actually contains the zips to keep, or alternatively a “complete set” option that you can use to see if there is an ideal colour in a less obvious situation, or have immediate access to a zip colour that you didn’t otherwise stock.
