Description
Thread snips are a particular kind of small scissors that are characteristically in the open position. This means that they only have to be closed to cut something instead of picked up, put your fingers into them and then open position around the thread you want to cut and finally close them.
Thread snips are great for keeping close to your sewing machine so that whenever you finish a stitch the trailing thread can be immediately cut. Also if the machine needs to be rethreaded, the end of the thread can be snipped without looking for your scissors.
A tip is to tie them to your machine. Too often tailors will finish a stitch trim the threads and walk away with the snips still in our hand. Then after the next machine stitch there aren’t any snips within arms reach.
